420s Sailing Season Underway

With 4 of last seasons sailors leaving and 2 sailors wanting to focus on other sailing, it looked like it was going to be a challenge to fill all the 420 sailing spaces.  However, we need not have worried and are pleasantly surprised with the turnout over the last couple of weeks with 12 sailors showing up to training and another 1 or 2 still considering joining.  We have gained at least two new families to the club membership. Welcome to you all and we look forward to seeing you around club events.

Previous crew George Simpson, Flynn Harrington & Henry Whitworth have impressed us by stepping up and turning their hand to skippering and the improvement they have shown in two weeks is outstanding.  Nationals have moved to New Plymouth next year, a more challenging location. We are still unsure whether we will be sending one or two teams but we are encouraged by the effort our more experienced sailors are putting into training the large number of new sailors. They are true team sailors, well done to you all.

Sadly our fundraiser event planned for 27th October was cancelled due to lack of numbers, but we are looking at future dates to run it again as there were many people who wanted to attend but couldn't.
