LTYC Sailors Deliver Strong Results at Junior Sail Auckland 2026

Sailors from Lake Taupō Yacht Club delivered excellent performances at Junior Sail Auckland 2026, hosted by Kohimarama Yacht Club, with standout results from brothers Sammy and Eddie Corcoran in the Optimist fleets.

In the Optimist White fleet, Sammy Corcoran produced a strong and consistent regatta to finish 4th overall, highlighted by an impressive race win during the series. Competing in a highly competitive fleet, Sammy regularly sailed inside the leading group and narrowly missed the podium after several close races.

In the Optimist Green fleet, Eddie Corcoran showed steady progress across the regatta, finishing 15th overall. Sailing in a large and competitive entry-level fleet, Eddie demonstrated growing confidence and consistency, gaining valuable regatta experience against a strong field of young sailors.

The event brought together junior sailors from clubs across the Auckland region and beyond, racing across multiple classes in a challenging and competitive environment. For LTYC, the results reflect the continued development of its young sailors and the strong connection between Taupō and the wider Auckland sailing community.

Both sailors now look forward to the upcoming Optimist traveler series regatta at Lake Taupō hosted by their home club LTYC.
