Sport & Trailer Boat Regatta 2026

Lake Taupō Yacht Club hosted a sport boat and trailer yacht regatta over the weekend, with a fleet of 16 boats competing across eight races in a range of conditions.

Saturday delivered a solid 15–22 knots from the north, while Sunday brought lighter, more variable breeze that kept crews on their toes—especially around the top mark.

Racing featured plenty of good upwind work and fast downwind gennaker legs, with a few sports boat crews taking an unexpected dip at the bottom gate. Off the water, competitors enjoyed a relaxed and social atmosphere, with gatherings at 2 Mile Bay Sailing Centre on Friday and the LTYC clubhouse on Saturday evening.
